Organizational Overview

The Ghana Permaculture Institute (GPI) is a leading center for ecological education, sustainable agriculture, and regenerative development. Since its establishment in 2010, GPI has been committed to transforming rural livelihoods and landscapes through permaculture design principles, community empowerment, and holistic environmental stewardship.

GPI champions a vision of self-reliant communities, ecological harmony, and economic resilience, fostering systems that regenerate the environment while sustaining human livelihoods. Our work addresses climate change, food insecurity, youth unemployment, and gender inequality using a proven and participatory approach

GPI Management Team

The Ghana Permaculture Institute is supported by a dedicated four-member management team responsible for overseeing key operational, programmatic, and financial functions of the organization. This team ensures effective coordination, project implementation, staff supervision, and internal systems development across all program areas.

Leadership 

Dr. Agnes Ameyaa

Director, Ghana Permaculture Institute​

Dr. Ameyaa is a development educator and administrator with a background in psychology, gender empowerment, human resource management, and sustainable livelihoods. She leads GPI’s strategic operations, stakeholder engagement, and institutional partnerships.

Prof. John Akpaerep

Senior Advisor – Research and Development​

Prof. Akpaerep is an experienced academic and development expert, providing strategic guidance on research methodologies, sustainability innovation, and community-based development initiatives. He supports the Institute’s knowledge generation, monitoring frameworks, and academic collaborations.
